Leadership
Don Morgan, PhD
Every life experience shapes leaders and the way we view others. I have spent my career at the intersection of mission and action. My first job after college threw me headfirst into mission with a year working at a homeless shelter for run-away youth in San Francisco as a member of the Jesuit Volunteer Corps. Those lessons about the root causes of homelessness led me to graduate school to study public administration while building a career working with nonprofit organizations and schools/universities as a Major Gift fundraiser.
My academic pursuits have always been complimented by fulltime work as a fundraiser and capacity-builder as well as more recent experiences supporting philanthropists as a Financial Advisor, and supporting a technology company that helps nonprofits, schools, and enterprise companies better communicate digitally. The range of experiences I have been fortunate to collect inspire me each day to look for ways to support mission-driven organizations that are helping our communities heal and thrive.

It is the collaboration for good which drives my passion for working in the non-profit industry. When staff, leadership and philanthropists come together with joint vision and purpose - incredible and immediate growth and change is possible.
Although I started my career in entertainment publicity, my dream to work for LA Opera became a reality and introduced me to fundraising as a career. For over 20 years I have had the opportunity to work for a diverse group of organizations in the areas of art, education, health care, research, behavioral health and child welfare. It is a privilege to help build meaningful and long-lasting relationships and be a conduit to their investment in impactful organizations. As a consultant, I enjoy collaborating and sharing my experience to help mission-driven organizations thrive and reach their goals.
